The Importance Of Healthy Nutrition For The Amateur Golfer

TsEver get to the end of an 18 hole round and you felt so exhausted that you didn’t think that you could carry your bag to your car? Sometimes it doesn’t even take you 18 holes to feel this way, you begin to feel the fatigue coming much earlier.

Unfortunately, if you are like many amateur golfers, you have had this feeling. Many golfers loose focus and concentration during the later rounds of a golf game. They also become tired and aches and pains begin to set in.

Have you ever felt the pain in your back about an hour after the game?

Unlike other sports such as tennis which is much more physical, amateur golfers take good nutrition lightly. Golf is slow game, comprised mostly of walking so the need to stay in shape is not considered necessary. The fact is nothing could be further from the truth.

A well tuned body that has all it’s parts working at the same time is what the golfer needs. Such things as joint pain, fatigue and muscle spasms are definitely going to make the game even more difficult than it already is. Golf is a long focused walk where you swing the club approximately 100 times ( if you are good ). It’s not much fun feeling really sore at your joints or in your back while your rounding the 9th hole.

Golfers need endurance for the several hour walk which usually consists of going up and down hills. They need strength to be able to hit the ball well. And golfers need their muscles in top notch condition to avoid injury.

Until recently when we began to see young golfers like Tiger Woods who take healthy nutrition and exercise very seriously, golf was thought to be a leisure game. A game where almost no preparation was needed and such things as the 19th hole all were apart of the game. Now young kids, professional and amateur alike are following Tiger’s lead in an effort to be like Tiger. They can see what it has done for him and they want the same results. Over his long career, Tiger has hit the ball further than most, maintained better focus and almost never become injured. Many out of shape golfers have gotten their game back because they have come to realize the importance of good nutrition and healthy living.

Nutrition for golf as well as for life is being taken more seriously. People are counting calories and watching what they eat. Golfers like in any sport put a strain on their body and need additional nutrition including vitamins and minerals to perform at a high level consistently.
